Cosmetic Dentistry
All restorative dentistry should have a cosmetic aspect, and
there are many different types of cosmetic dentistry available
that enable us to achieve this for you. We want your mouth to
look good, feel good and stay healthy.
Bleaching
This can be done in the surgery in 1 - 2 visits or at home using specially made
bleaching trays. Bleaching will get rid of most stains as well as whitening the teeth. It
is simple and painless.
Composites
These are teeth coloured filling materials and provide excellent
aesthetic results in small to medium fillings. For larger cavities
porcelain inlays or onlays are best.
Veneers
Veneers comprise thin layers of porcelain (sometimes
composite) that are bonded onto the front of anterior teeth
to improve colour, size and shape of the individual tooth.
They are usually done on pairs of teeth and rely on the
underlying tooth structure to be sound.
Crowns
Crowns are used in a wide variety of situations to improve functions, comfort and aesthetics. They are made in
porcelain, porcelain bonded to gold or all gold. They can be used on teeth that are fractured, stained or simply worn.
Bridges
Bridges are a means of replacing a missing tooth or teeth. It usually depends on preparing the teeth on either side
of the space. Several types of bridges are available.
Implants
A type of artificial root is inserted into the upper or lower jaw bone to provide support for crowns, bridges or
dentures.
Adult Orthodontics
Teeth can be moved so that they look better, function correctly and also prevent food trapping and gum irritation.
Contrary to popular belief, this can be achieved at any age.
