A
glance at our map will reveal the unique situation of Drum Mohr Holiday
Park. Twenty minutes to the west lies Princes Street in the heart of
Scotland's capital, Edinburgh - while on the other hand, the beautiful
East Lothian countryside beckons. Thus Drum Mohr is not likely to be
a place you will choose for an overnight stop. You'll want to sample
at length this area of contrasts.
While
you will be drawn to Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace and all the history
of the Royal Mile in between - plus all the city amenities from Arthur's
Seat to the Zoo - the sheer tranquility of East Lothian's villages,
the dramatic coastline, miles of sandy beaches, fine castles, stately
homes and the wild places in the Lammermuir Hills
should all be part of your holiday experience here.
East
Lothian too is reckoned to have more golf courses for its size than
just about any other place in Britain (there's one right next door!)
and with such an unspoiled coastline, sailing enthusiasts too have a
choice of picturesque harbours.
In fact, the choice starts right next door with another of our
neighbours.
Preston Grange Mining Museum is just a few minutes walk away. Children
of all ages (and adults too) will be fascinated by the Giant Beam Engine
- and there's a live steam locomotive too.
You'll want to visit the spectacular Tantallon Castle on its rocky headland;
take a boat ride round the Bass Rock with its huge gannet
colony;
walk the nature trails on the John Muir Country Park, explore the ancient
harbour at Dunbar; visit the gardens at Tynninghame House...the list
is only beginning.
And
how would you do all these with only an overnight stop?
